God-given Strength

Strength and courage are qualities that bolster our faith and help us fulfill God’s purpose for our lives. The apostles and disciples of Jesus had divine strength and courage when they went out in public, in Jesus’ Name, and healed the sick and cast out demons. They met opposition, were arrested, and were condemned by the highest religious leaders. Their lives were threatened. Still, they boldly obeyed the Lord and kept preaching the Gospel and performing miracles. Jesus commissioned believers to boldly share their faith and be His witnesses just like the early believers. Joshua became Israel’s leader when Moses died. He led millions of people, who had a history of rebelling against God, into a land occupied by idol-worshipers. These people sacrificed their babies to pagan gods. Joshua’s chief purpose was to occupy the Promised Land where pagan kings ruled. This was a challenge and no easy task. No wonder God spoke strong words to Joshua as the new leader of His people. “No one will be able to stand their ground against you … For I will be with you…” (Joshua 1:5) God commanded Joshua, “Be strong and courageous … be strong and very courageous.” (Joshua 1:6-7) This double emphasis indicates that the devil would seek to bring fear into Joshua’s heart and God’s people. The Lord also instructed Joshua to meditate on the Book of the Law constantly. The Lord’s words were to be foremost in Joshua’s mind so that he would not be overcome with fear. Believers must read and understand the Word, meditate on it, and let it lead them forward into victory. Our faith in God promises must take priority over whatever is happening around us. Fear and timidity bring failure and captivity. Joshua obeyed the Lord and one pagan king after another was defeated. He looked to God for strength and courage. The Lord knows our weakness which is why we must trust Him and believe His Word above all. He will always be with us when we go to battle. His Spirit will give us strength to boldly face our enemies and get them off our property. God will give us victory so we can glorify Him.

If we take an honest look at ourselves, there are areas of our lives where we have become complacent. God calls us to be bold in faith and take action. He wants us to defeat the enemy that steals what belongs to us. Right now, you can boldly pray this prayer: “Lord, please show me areas of my life where I have allowed the enemy to hold onto that which You have given me to possess. Give me courage and strength so I can take back all that is mine.”

God will show you how to conquer the enemy. Here is a great resource for you, God’s Promises for Strength. These prayers and scriptures are compiled to help people become strong and courageous and take possession of all that God has promised in His covenant. It is time to leave our comfort zones. Like Joshua, God is calling His people to occupy the land! We are to occupy positions of authority in our communities, schools, cities, and states. Every promise of God is ours, just like every inch of the Promised Land belonged to God’s people. It is time to go in and take possession of it. The enemy seeks to destroy everything that is good. But we are strong in the Lord. When we face our enemies, like Joshua, God promises to be with us. God’s favor is with us just as He was with Joshua who defeated kings that were much more powerful than his army. The Lord is looking for those who will challenge the enemy and take back their families and property and enjoy all His blessings.

Believers who boldly stand up against the tactics of the enemy with courage and conviction will run the enemy off. “Fear not for I AM with you; do not be afraid, for I AM your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you…” (Isaiah 41:10)  It is not time to be complacent. God’s Promises for Strength is a special selection of scriptures and prayers designed to help you walk in God’s strength and live victoriously.
