Water From the RockOur Story

Water From the Rock was named for the miracles God did when the Israelites were freed from a life of slavery.  It comes from the Bible verses in Genesis and in Psalm 78. God will do miracles and provide even when situations seem impossible. Our co-founders, Rhet and Pete, were serving as Chaplains in OC jails when their vision of helping others in need and sharing the Gospel with the lost was expanded to reach more people locally and globally.

In the Bible, the book of Genesis describes the exodus of God’s people from slavery in Egypt. God did wonderful miracles for Israel when He delivered them from slavery. Moses led them out of Egypt and to the Red Sea. They needed to cross over, about 1 million of people, with the Egyptian army chasing them down to bring them back to slavery.  God parted the Red Sea so the waters stood up like walls on both sides, and all the Israelites walked across on dry ground. Then the Egyptian army were destroyed after the Israelites safely crossed over. In the wilderness, shortly after the miraculous crossing of the Red Sea, the Israelites were in the hot desert and became extremely thirsty. They complained bitterly against Moses and God. God told Moses to strike the hard rock and, miraculously, waters like rushing rivers gushed out. God proved His love and compassion for His people by giving them water from the rock. Otherwise they all would have died in the dry desert. The Lord God Almighty proved Himself faithful to His people then, and He is faithful to us now. God is our gracious Provider and our Protector. We can trust Him with everything. He will deliver us from harm and shower us with His blessings as we put our faith in Him. We are very thankful for His amazing love and grace.

Water From the Rock is impacting people’s lives by showing them God’s love in tangible ways. When people come together and partner with us, our vision becomes a reality. People are so grateful to receive support and encouragement when they feel helpless and hopeless. God’s healing grace touches their lives. We give all glory and honor to the Lord.

Meet the Founder

Rhet Peterson, Founder and President

Thanks to the loving support of our partners, Water From the Rock has ministered to thousands of people for over fifteen years. Chp Rhet is an ordained Minster and Chaplain with a passion to share the Gospel with others so they understand the unconditional love Jesus has for them. For years, she has been involved with various compassion ministries. Rhet has ministered to the homeless at the Orange County Rescue Mission. Also she has served as a mentor for children in foster care at Orangewood Children's Home because these little ones need a positive influence in their lives. Her compassion for those who are hurting led Rhet to become a mentor at Mary's Path, a home for pregnant teens. As a devoted Chaplain in jail ministry, Rhet has preached the Gospel, led worship, and counseled inmates for 25 years. Many times, she has witnessed a dramatic change in the lives of men and women who were without hope. When people accept Jesus' unfailing love and forgiveness for their sins, their lives are changed forever. Rhet serves as a hospital Chaplain and encourages those who are sick and hurting.

Rhet enjoys writing Bible study lessons that help people learn biblical truth and understand how to walk in the freedom Jesus offers them. She also writes uplifting devotions, Inspiration for Life, to encourage and inspire people to grow in their relationship with the Lord. The devotions are on our website along with other inspirational resources. We give God all the glory for His amazing love and for the wonderful work that He is doing in people's lives through our partner’s generous support and faithful prayers. God bless you all.
