The Lord Keeps His Word

The Word of God is a refuge for the oppressed. It is dangerous to trust in man and not in God. When corrupt leaders in the Old Testament, who were thought to be trustworthy, carried out wicked schemes, the people suffered. Today, when corrupt leaders carry out wicked schemes, the people suffer. They hear about the bribes and corruption of self-serving elected officials who smile and present themselves as decent citizens in front of news cameras. Their words are well thought out to cover their true motives. As people’s eyes are opened to the truth, they might vote next time for someone with good character. These corrupt men and women look the other way when the poor cry out. They make back room deals to line their own pockets while the homeless sleep on sidewalks and live under bridges. They forget that Almighty God still rules over the earth. His eyes examine everything on earth, both the wicked and the godly. God loves justice, and the Bible declares it to all who will listen. The Lord always keeps His Word and every promise He made; He is completely trustworthy and faithful in all He says and does. “The Lord’s promises are pure like silver refined in a furnace seven times. Therefore, Lord, we know you will protect the oppressed, preserving them from this lying generation ...” Psalm 12:6-7  When men call evil good and say that good is evil, chaos rules. Jesus taught us that good deeds come from a good heart and evil deeds are produced from an evil heart; therefore, we must be wise and discern the truth. Crime soars as violent men boldly attack the innocent and devour helpless victims. Then people tend to lose heart, but God cares for the weak and will rise up on their behalf. The body of Christ, the Church, is called to pray for and stand up for the truth. When we fix our eyes on Jesus and stand up for truth, God works on our behalf. The Word of God is a strong foundation. His Word performs what it came to accomplish. Jesus is a mighty Rock to build our lives upon, the One who rescues us from every storm. The Almighty One, holy and awesome, is mighty to save. Therefore, commit yourself to prayer and trust that He will defend truth and justice. Remember the goodness of God in difficult times. The Lord keeps His Word. Take comfort in knowing that He is sovereign over all things and will deliver His people as He promised. Put your faith in God; He always keeps His Word.
