The Grandest Event

Jesus’ love gives people joy and strength. When we know that He loves us, we feel accepted and content. Our hearts respond with love and gratefulness. Jesus loves us deeply and desires to have an intimate relationship with every person. Sadly, many people have not read the Bible or heard the Good News. Others have a limited knowledge of the Word but don’t understand that God wants a personal relationship with them. Still others have rejected the truth. The head of the church is Jesus Christ, and He is calling people into His kingdom. The saints will enjoy the benefits of a covenant relationship with the Lord both now and forever. We eagerly anticipate the grandest event to come, the marriage supper of the Lamb with His perfect bride, the church. An awesome revelation was given to the apostle John, a close friend and disciple of Christ, who witnessed His death and resurrection. He wrote the book of Revelation. End time prophecy warns people to repent of their sins while there is time because God’s judgment will be poured out on sinners. Revelation also describes the grandest event of all, the wedding supper of the Lamb and His spotless bride. Jesus is preparing His bride, the church, even now and will make her ready for their marriage. Meditate on God’s wonderful love and mercy towards you that He would call you His beloved. “The bride ... waits in her chamber dressed in a gown woven with gold. In her beautiful robes, she is led to the king, … what a joyful procession as they enter the king’s palace!” Psalm 45:13

As believers we are to remember that we are no longer of this world. Christ is our King, and His kingdom is in heaven where He reigns on high. In this life, however, we are easily distracted with worldly things and are busy with the routines of work and daily life, and our hobbies, sports, and entertainment. Without realizing it our time and energy is spent on temporal things. We forget that we are the bride of Christ. The Lord called the saints to live a life that pleases God as we serve Him and others. Remember the biblical story of Mary and Martha? When Jesus was a guest in their home, Martha busied herself in the kitchen preparing a meal for everyone. Mary chose to sit at Jesus’ feet and talk to Him because she dearly loved spending time with the Lord. Martha complained to Jesus that she needed help, but Jesus told her that Mary had chosen the better thing. This is a good lesson for all of us to heed. We don’t have to engage in sinful behavior to be off track with our priorities. Our first love is calling us to take time from our busy schedules to sit with Him. When we are in love with the Lord, our hearts yearn for an intimate relationship. The grandest event to come is the marriage supper and the celebration of a new life together in heaven. Think about Jesus’ love and devotion to you, His bride, and the majestic, royal wedding feast to come.

When a young woman gets engaged to the man she loves, all she can think about is their wedding. The happy couple anticipate a bright future together. Many preparations are carefully made, and guests are invited to the wedding. On that special day, the groom waits at the altar for his beloved. She is all that he sees in the crowded room. And Her eyes are fixed only on him with great anticipation. Are we preparing ourselves like a young bride and groom who are so excited to finally exchange vows? The grandest event is the beginning of our future life with King Jesus. We are to keep ourselves pure for Jesus Christ. “… One who is holy, innocent … and exalted above the heavens… He sacrificed for sin once for all when He offered up Himself.” Hebrews 7:26-27 Jesus proved His unfailing love for the church, His beautiful bride, by laying down His life for us. The bride of Christ will be clothed in fine linen, splendid to behold. Christ is preparing a glorious home in heaven for the saints. We must be ready for His coming, not distracted by worldly things. Our precious Savior has washed our sins away. He eagerly awaits the marriage supper with His spotless, righteous bride. We will see Him face to face and experience the fullness of His love. “Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him the glory. For the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready. She was given clothing of fine linen, bright and pure.” Revelation 19:7-8 The appointed time for the marriage of the Lamb is drawing near. Blessed are all who have made themselves ready.

Boaz is a type of Christ in the book of Ruth. Boaz is a wealthy Jew who shows kindness to a young widow who has a very dismal future. The story has a happy ending as Boaz, the kinsman redeemer, shows his great love for Ruth. There are many parallels in this story for us to glean from because we are the bride of Christ. It is a story of true love and redemption. This study will help you keep Jesus as your first love and envision yourself as His beloved bride. Get the Ruth Bible study here:  Bible Studies
