Take Heart, Be Strong

In an age of stress and distractions with pressure coming in on every side, we can find relief.  Jesus said to “take heart” for He has already overcome.  That means His victory over the devil and all evil is our victory.  In Christ, we are overcomers.  So how do we live a victorious life?  2 Timothy 2:1 encourages believers to be strong and full of power by the grace that is in Christ.  To be strong is to be well-fortified and well-protected, standing your ground.  If you’re tired of trying to make something happen or wearing yourself out to do it on your own, then find rest in Jesus.  “Come to Me, all who are weary, and I will give you rest”, Jesus said.  Resting in the midst of adversity is an act of faith.  Trusting the Father’s love and promise to provide for your every need is a place of comfort and security.  Rest in His love.  Striving to achieve is not rest.  Be balanced in your activities, not just busy.  Spend time in prayer and in the Word.  Jesus will strengthen, heal, and equip you to overcome every obstacle.  Joshua was given great responsibilities as the new leader of a nation after Moses died.  God knew he would face many enemies and fight tremendous battles.  He commanded Joshua to be strong.  Fear could not get a foothold on Joshua or he would be ineffective and have great losses.  God told him to meditate on the Word day and night because he needed to renew his mind and fear the Lord only.  Joshua had to rely on God and not the strength of his army.  As we set aside time to be in God’s Word, meditating on it, our minds and hearts are strengthened.  Our faith in the truth and in God’s promises becomes stronger.  We remember to focus on Christ’s finished work and victory and not on our problems.  If your life is so busy and the problems seem to be overwhelming, then get in the Word and praise the Lord for His goodness and faithfulness.  Look to the Lord for victory and look beyond the circumstances and see Jesus.  His hand is held out to you, and victory is yours!  Take heart and be strong.
