Seeds of Hope, Seeds of Doubt

The Church has been under attack from the beginning as is evident in the book of Acts. The early church had tremendous growth as many confessed their faith in the Messiah. At the same time the devil attacked the saints, and they suffered great persecution. One tactic the devil uses against believers is to plant wrong thoughts in their minds. He lies to see if he can derail our faith in God and in His holy Word. If we aren’t careful, we will unwittingly let those seeds take root and forget to use our spiritual authority in Christ to refute every lie. Those lies play on our weaknesses and human frailty. He throws out seeds of doubt such as: “Does God really hear your prayers?” or “Can God get you out of these troubles you’re facing?”, and “Will God be able to forgive you for what you’ve done?”. He tries to pave a road into your mind with devious deceptions. The enemy of our souls seeks to intimidate believers and throw us into confusion. If we accept our identity in Christ and understand the freedom our Savior provided for us, then the lies have no place to roam in our minds. We must believe we belong to God who loves and accepts us. Jesus Christ defeated the devil on the cross. Lies are the fiery darts aimed at our minds to cause us to doubt God’s unconditional love. If you have allowed guilt and shame to grab your mind, then start believing the Truth. Jesus said, “I AM the Truth”. Too many Christians are living in fear, doubt, and defeat. Those who understand how to stand on the Word and God’s faithful promises will not be moved because the Word of God continually feeds our spirits. The saints are perfected in Christ (Colossians 1:28). All who believe in Christ are redeemed, and the seed of eternal hope is planted in their hearts and minds. “Those who know Your Name trust in You, for You, O Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you” (Psalm 9:10). God gives believers seeds of hope that grow in the fertile soil of a believing heart. Just as we are saved by faith in Christ, so we must continue to walk in victory through our faith in His promises. “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven …” (Matthew 16:19). Bind the lies and deceptions. Keep seeds of hope in your heart so you are firmly established in your identity in Christ. Proclaim God’s promises over yourself and your loved ones. The Word of God works like a weed killer; it destroys lies and keeps us from being led astray.
