More Precious Than Silver

The Lord’s promises are pure like silver refined in a fire seven times (Psalm 12:5).  Pure silver is worth a great price because of the long process of thorough refinement that removes all foreign substances that devalue it.  God’s Word is completely pure and holy; by it we know that believers are righteous and sanctified through Jesus Christ.  The Word of God is alive and works in our lives in ways we cannot see even in our innermost being.  Trust God and trust His Word which is much more valuable than pure gold or silver.  The Holy Spirit reveals truth and teaches us all things about God through His precious Word.  He guides, counsels, and corrects us as we read the Word.  All of God’s promises are sure, and we can count on them no matter what a situation looks like to our natural eyes.  As we read and meditate on the Word our spirits are refreshed and our strength is renewed.  Sometimes it seems like a long season of waiting for God’s promises to be fulfilled in our lives.  Yet we renew our strength by immersing ourselves in the living Word and in worship.  Hope arises in our hearts as we trust God to do what we cannot do.  Our faith mixed with the Word produces results.  It is futile to rely on feelings to guide our path for they’re not an accurate measure of real truth.  Recently a man told me that for decades he turned his back on Jesus, but when he finally realized that Jesus loved him, his whole life changed.  He was destroying his life, but now he knows that when he gave his life to Jesus, he received a  promising future and eternal life no matter what happens.  Immerse yourself in the Word; read it, meditate on it, memorize it, speak it, and trust it.  Then your heart will overflow with the pure truth and every blessing that God pours out on you will result in worship and thanksgiving.    John 1:1-2 tells us that Jesus, our Lord, is the Word that gives us life and light in this dark world.  He is the Light of the world.  If we value the Word as a priceless treasure, we will have a solid foundation for our faith.  Hearts that overflow with God’s precious Word have a fountain of living water that quenches the thirst of our souls.  This takes time and a commitment to put God’s precious Word first and obey Him.
