Paul wrote much of the New Testament and told of the extreme hardships he faced. Then he instructed the church to run the race well and to press on to the goal to win the prize for which God called us heavenward in Jesus Christ. Philippians 3:14 In Vietnam 1982, Pastor Lap Ma faced the communists at gunpoint at his church and refused to cooperate. He and his family were forced into exile and are still serving the Lord and enduring great persecution. Endurance is required to win the race. Endurance is to endure or bear pain, hardships, and danger, and have the strength to continue on in spite of fatigue, stress, and adversities. We receive stamina from the Lord to finish the race. A good start isn't what counts. Paul said to focus on the finish. Modern day martyrs are being persecuted and killed for their Christian faith. They will not deny their faith in Jesus Christ as they run the race to win. God will help you finish your race well and receive the prize of eternal life in His KIngdom.
