Too often we become overwhelmed with work and family commitments and have little time to ourselves. It is so easy to be in a constant state of stress and anxiety going from one task to another. Overload is not normal. Our family’s problems, our health, work, finances, and hearing bad news about the world’s problems – all these issues are too much to process. We become anxious. Too much is happening around us to the point where we can’t cope well. Jesus addressed the need for less stress and more praise in our lives.
Step back and look at Jesus, fix your eyes on Him and begin to praise Him. Jesus has the remedy for stress. He taught us plainly not to worry or be anxious about anything! Jesus told us that the Father knows what we need and takes good care of us.
Don’t worry about having enough food or drink or clothing… Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. And He will give you all you need from day to day if you live for Him and make God’s kingdom your primary concern. Matt 6:31-33
Listen to God’s advice. Some people are driven by doing more than they can handle because they want control, or feel obligated, or this gives them satisfaction. Learn to slow down and let your mind relax. Cast your cares on the Lord who knows every detail of your life. The Lord not only sees what we are going through, He understands every situation and challenge we face. And He will help us when we come to Him and lay our burdens at His feet. Who can add one hair to his head by worrying? God did not design us to be worry machines. Stress is bad for our health. When we take on too much, our minds and bodies get stressed with too much pressure which can cause illness. Have faith in the Lord and lean on God; put your trust in Him because He loves you. Ask Him what changes you can make to have less stress in your life.
Trust the Lord and lean on Him when life becomes overwhelming. Rest in His unforced rhythms of grace. When we read scripture, we see God’s perspective. Focus on the Lord, not the problem. When we listen to worship music and begin to praise the Lord for His goodness, the Holy Spirit refreshes our souls. Take time to let God’s supernatural peace soak into your spirit.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.
God is in control of all things. When we don’t understand what is happening, we can trust God to help us through every difficult situation. Just come to Him in prayer and quiet your mind; listen to His words of wisdom. Let Him take the wheel. If we make our requests to the Lord with thanksgiving, His peace that is beyond understanding will guard our hearts and minds in Christ our Lord. Less stress, more praise. Worship the Lord and sit at His feet daily. He gives us Shalom peace that passes our understanding. God’s mercies are new every morning. God’s grace and peace be with you!
