Life can be complicated or confusing when we are focusing on our problems and the hurtful things that have happened to us. As surely as water rises during a storm, offenses will come in life. But the Word of God instructs us on how to deal with them effectively. Jesus is our vindicator who settles our debts and brings justice when we are wronged. He defends us as an Advocate who wins every case because He is righteous and just in all His ways. Jesus is able to repay and restore everything we’ve lost, as well as everything the devil stole. His desire is to bless us even more than before. If someone has offended us, we can decide not to hold it inside and realize that the offenses we hold onto become burdens that constrain the love of God in us. Offenses bring bitterness that grows into hatred, anger and revenge if not dealt with scripturally. “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down.” (Proverbs 12:25) Every hurt, everything lost or stolen will be restored as we walk in forgiveness and love. God gives us the ability to do what we may not feel like doing if we submit to Him. Jesus can settle and resolve each troublesome situation in ways we can’t imagine. Allow forgiveness to replace offenses. The past is gone, and a glorious new day awaits. Jesus is our constant Companion, leading us into His plans of blessing and hope (Jeremiah 29:11) If we will cast our cares and anxious thoughts on the Lord, trusting Him to be our vindicator and defender, we will experience the fullness of His goodness and grace. As we let go of offenses, blessed freedom and peace will guard our hearts and minds.
