The scene is so brutal that it is hard to describe. A crowd is jeering as three men hang on crosses outside of the city. Everyone in the region knows that these criminals are the worst and deserve to die. All except one. On the center cross hangs the holy Son of God. His life and blood is being poured out for the sins of men. He’s taking our guilt for the sins we’ve committed. The ultimate sacrifice is dying an agonizing death for others. That was Jesus Christ hanging on the center cross, the epitome of love on display. Psalm 22:16-17 “They pierced My hands and My feet; I can count all my bones. They stare at Me and divide My garments by casting lots.” Our victory over death, sin, and hell came through Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection. He is alive! Now we boldly declare, “Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for You (Lord) are with me.” Psalm 23:4 So sweet and so divine is Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice for us. Let us praise His Name forever for He gave us freedom, blessings, and eternal life. Jesus will be your constant Companion if you believe that He is the Son of God who died on the cross to forgive your sins. Ask Him to forgive your sins and invite Him to come and live in your heart, and He will, forever.
