We’re living in a time of global darkness. Nations are at war; enemy missiles are destroying cities and people’s lives. Global leaders scheme to obtain power and control. And America has turned away from God and godly principles and embraced false gods and vain philosophies. The church must make their appeal in fervent prayer to Almighty God asking for Him to intervene as we make intercession for our nation. Holy Spirit is calling all believers to rise up in this hour!
In the early church, the disciples waited in the upper room and there was a divine outpouring of the Holy Spirit on each man and woman there. They felt the mighty wind, saw flames of fire on their heads, and spoke in tongues. Let’s pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on believers and for a spiritual awakening across the land. The apostle John addressed the call to be separate from the world - Stop loving this evil world and all it offers you, for when you love the world, you show you do not have the love of the Father in you. 1 John 2:15-16
Let’s stand in unity as one body of Christ that is ready for battle against evil, using our spiritual weapons of warfare: Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. Ephesians 6:17-18. Jesus told believers to be like shining lights on a hill. We cannot compromise the truth or tolerate sin in our midst. It is time for believers to cling to God’s principles in an evil world. To cling means to hold on tightly or tenaciously as if your life depends on it. Jesus asked what good it does for a light to hide under a bushel; His Light must shine on the hilltop! Jesus said, “I AM the Light of the world. If you follow Me, you won’t stumble in the darkness because you will have the Light that leads to life.” John 8:12
The saints must examine themselves to see if their light is hidden away or shining brightly. In this world, the call is for believers to be like a lighthouse that shines a beacon of light in a heavy storm to a ship in distress. Godly principles and values must be taught in our homes, schools, and churches for future generations. God is calling our nation to repentance for our sins and idolatry. Our prayer must be: Father, please forgive us for our sins, rebellion, and pride as a nation.
God is calling for intercessory prayer for America in our churches across the land. If we cry out to the Lord in a time of national crisis with humble hearts, the Lord will hear our cries for mercy. Our prayer must be: Lord God Almighty, we need you now. Help us seek You in prayer with our hearts surrendered. Strengthen our faith and give us boldness to stand against evil in this world and stand for Your truth in unity. Please restore the strong foundation of Your Word in America.
If the church will shine their lights brightly without fear, the gracious hand of God will move on our behalf. He is a shield around those who trust in Him. Our prayer must be: Lord, forgive us for removing You from public schools, our culture, and our government. Turn our hearts back to You. Be merciful and grant us Your protection and blessings, Lord.
As Christians intercede in prayer for America and humbly repent for the sins of the church and our nation, Jesus’ light will shine in the darkness. It is time for a spiritual awakening and a revival through the power of the Holy Spirit. Many people, young and old, are without hope and searching for answers. They need to hear the Good News and anchor their faith in Jesus Christ. In the book of Acts, Peter and John were arrested and threatened by leaders who then released them for fear of a riot. They told them never to preach about Jesus again, but Peter and John responded in faith. They fervently prayed for God to give them boldness to preach the Gospel and to do miracles, signs, and wonders through power of the Holy Spirit. As a result, scores of people received Christ, and all the sick were healed.
Jesus’ return will come like a thief in the night. If the owner of the home knew the thief was going to come that night and steal all his valuables, he would have kept watch all night long. How sorry that man was because he was sleeping while the thief robbed him of everything! Don’t be lulled to sleep by the busyness and distractions of this world. Keep your light shining brightly; stir up your passion for serving Jesus for His return is near. The Holy Spirit is calling on all believers to watch and pray. He gives us opportunities every day to be a faithful witness for Christ.
