Jesus came to offer grace to a dying world. The Messiah came to earth to fulfill the Law of the Old Covenant and ratify a brand New Covenant between God and man. The Son of God chose us before the foundation of the world. Think about the amazing love God has for you and the plan of salvation that was in His heart before creation! Grace covered our sins. He knew that Adam and Eve, perfect and precious to God, would sin against Him and be deceived by the devil. They fell for the temptation, and everything in this world came under a curse. Now the earth is groaning under the heavy weight of sin. God hates sin because it destroys people.
Jesus, the Son of Man, came to the earth, to give people a new life and a glorious future. The Son of Man is our brother! Meditate on the meaning of having Jesus Christ, God’s Son, as our brother and our friend. Grace came and touched the earth. Even though all have sinned, Jesus made a way for eternal life. “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God… God presented Jesus as a sacrifice for sin.” Romans 3:23, 25 Our confession of faith in Christ opens the way to freedom and eternal life. Jesus is the holy One who we celebrate at Christmas. The Son of God came to offer the world grace. The Law pointed out our sins and failures. The New Covenant of grace offers us salvation as a free gift through Jesus Christ. No guilt. No condemnation. Only the free gift offered by God’s grace. Jesus paid the price and willingly died for us so we could have eternal life in God’s kingdom. Grace triumphed over death.
So, we draw near to God with a grateful heart and rejoice in Jesus’ love for us. The Savior is with us, Immanuel. Let Him nourish and heal your mind and body. Listen to God’s Words of grace. He has made a covenant of unfailing love with His people. If we are not still before Him, we will miss the quiet voice of God whispering love songs to our hearts. He reveals Himself to those who seek Him diligently. Set aside the distractions and come sit at Jesus’ feet. Let us sing for joy to the Lord and shout praise to the God of our salvation. He is our righteousness, Christ the Lord!
