People like to say that love makes the world go ‘round. When a man and a woman fall in love and give their hearts to each other, they are so happy. As teenagers we first gave our hearts to someone only to find that, in most cases, the relationship did not last. That first feeling of love puts our head in the clouds and gives us a strong feeling of self-worth. But after a while, people learn to guard their hearts from being wounded and broken when relationships don’t last, and love is lost. We become cautious about giving our hearts away and wary of receiving love. However, Jesus’ love is unconditional and forever. Our Redeemer gave His life for us and will never leave us alone. His sacrificial love opened the way for us to be reconciled to God. His amazing love for us cannot be equaled. If we are weak, He becomes our strength. If we need wisdom, He counsels us. When we need help, He is at our side. Even when we sleep the Lord is watching over us.
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, with loving-kindness have I drawn you.” Jeremiah 31:3. There are no limits to God’s love. Each day the Lord offers us acceptance, favor, and grace because we are very precious to Him. He longs to show us His love in new ways and surprise us with His creativity. God loved us before we were born and knows the number of our days. For some people it is hard to receive this wonderful kind of love because of their wounded hearts. But Jesus mends our hearts when we come to Him for help. He is trustworthy and loyal. Each day the Lord is full of compassion for His people. As Solomon said to his bride, “O my dove, in the clefts of the rock … Let me see your face, let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet …” Song of Solomon 2:14 Solomon’s heart deeply longed to be with his lovely bride. Jesus longs for us to draw close and tell Him how much we love Him. Sweet times of intimacy with the Lord fills our hearts with joy. When we give Him priority over all other things, He rewards us in wonderful ways. And our love for the Lord God Almighty grows stronger.
The body of Christ is Jesus’ spotless bride, being prepared for the great wedding feast. Jesus calls us His beloved because we are cherished and nurtured by Him. He adorned His precious bride with a glorious crown of grace. The glory of the Lord shines in and through every believer. Jesus eagerly awaits the momentous celebration of the marriage supper of the Lamb. He promised to return for the church, His bride, and bring her to His glorious kingdom in heaven. We have a covenant with Him. “In My Father’s house there are many mansions … I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:2 Traditionally, the groom went away from his betrothed to make a home ready for her. The bride eagerly went out every day to look for the coming of her beloved. Her heart was full of joy in anticipation of their life as one when her groom finally returned to take her home.
If our hearts are wounded and it is difficult to receive God’s love, He will pour His healing oil on us. Let His unfailing love make you whole again. God is love. 1John 4:8 The Holy Spirit works in us and speaks to our spirit with gentle words of compassion. Trust the Lord and know that you are His cherished treasure. God’s love is unequaled, limitless, unfailing, extravagant, unchanging, powerful, steadfast, miraculous, supernatural, glorious, life-changing, holy, and pure. The Lord reveals Himself to all who search for Him and surrender to Him. Love always wins. Love never fails. Jesus Christ gave us eternal life and an everlasting love.
