Prayers for Comfort

One incredible blessing every believer in Christ can count on is having an awesome future in God’s glorious kingdom. A blissful, joyous forever home with God as the sovereign King over all. Yet while we are in this world, believers will be persecuted and face many tribulations. God’s promise is to deliver us from them all. Our relationship with God affects all we do in life. It is the center of who we are and the choices we make. If we know Almighty God as Creator of all things, but we do not believe that He is engaged in our lives, then we are missing the heart of our heavenly Father. God created us for companionship and to be the recipients of His unfailing, unlimited love. His love is always true and pure. Believers must come to an understanding that the Lord God Almighty, El Shaddai, wants to be personally involved in every aspect of our lives. When we hurt, He will comfort our hearts. God is a wonderful Father who is genuinely interested in the little, mundane things in our lives and our most important needs as well. Some people imagine that the Father is too busy for them and is distant and aloof. Yet the truth is that the Lord Jesus Christ became a man and gave His life to ransom us from death and hell. That is extremely personal and is the ultimate expression of love. He understands our weakness and encourages us to run our race well.

If you haven’t yet asked Jesus to be your personal Savior, or if you have walked away from Jesus, He is waiting for you to come to Him with open arms. When we struggle with adversity, we can rest assured that Jesus will guide us through every difficult situation. God wants us to trust Him. The Holy Spirit is our Comforter and Helper in times of need. If our lives and our happiness depend on worldly things and relationships, we will surely be disappointed. Things get old and are thrown away. People will fail us. But the Lord will always love and take care of His people. The Helper, Holy Spirit, comes along side to help us. Many people do not understand the peace and comfort God makes available to them. They need the incredible power of the Holy Spirit.

I wrote Prayers for Comfort for those who need encouragement and comfort. This is a thoughtful collection of special prayers and scriptures that will guide and support individuals through challenging situations such as the loss of a loved one, a divorce, depression, illness, or any other adversity. Jesus calls us overcomers. Not in our strength but in His power, we are victorious. We can always depend on His unfailing, unlimited love. Prayers for Comfort begins with a key scripture:

“Now may our Lord Jesus Christ and God of our Father who by grace has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good word and deed.” 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 Personalize this prayer and make it your daily declaration because God absolutely loves you wants the best for you. When we speak the Word and declare the truth, our minds agree with God. His love and tender mercies surround us.

So, what should we do when we don’t hear an answer to our prayers right away? Prayers for Comfort addresses the importance of waiting on the Lord. Here is an excerpt: “Take a moment and be still. Picture yourself holding Jesus’ hand. Allow Him to speak to you with healing words of comfort. Jesus will encourage you and strengthen your faith.”  The truth is, “Those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles.” Isaiah 40:31 The Lord strengthens us moment by moment. His Word brings healing and comfort to our souls. God heals the broken hearted. And He is working in ways that we can’t see.

God designed eagles to fly high above a storm and glide through fierce winds. Like the eagles, we will soar high above the storms of life as we trust in the Lord God Almighty. Know that the Lord is with you and will bring you through the most challenging times. He can turn a barren desert into refreshing springs of water.

Please say this prayer and declaration according to 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 right now:  God, my Father, I know that you give me eternal comfort and hope. You are encouraging my heart and giving me strength right now to overcome every obstacle. I believe that You are doing a good work on my behalf, and I am trusting You today. Thank you for Your grace and love that brings me into a place of victory. Amen.
